Wachau is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most spectacular winemaking regions in the world. It has not yet implanted Austria's DAC classifications, but has been using its own classification system for more than 30 years and produces Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners that are considered some of the country's finest. With its steeply terraced vineyards and breathtaking view, the region itself is well worth a visit too.
